  • Mediation as an Educative Tool to Foster Social Thinking and Awareness: What Can Be Learnt From Our Own Mistakes?

    Mediation, as a peaceful and constructive conflict resolution tool, can have an important impact on educational contexts. Regarding the educational possibilities of this technique, its ability to foster social thinking in adolescents will be analyzed in this study. First, a brief summary of moral development theories and evaluations will be presented. Secondly, the possibilities of mediation in educational contexts will be analyzed. Furthermore, it will be exemplified how the mediation process can foster an appropriate social thinking. Lastly, conclusions about the benefits and difficulties to implement these programs in educational contexts will be presented.

    This article analyzes the possibilities of mediation between families and schools, which are the conclusions drawn by the Preventive Psychology Research Group from the Complutense University of Madrid, headed by María José Díaz-Aguado. This kind of research about violence prevention from education and the fight against exclusion was initiated in the 90’s.

  • School Mediation in the Region of Madrid: Analyzing the Impact of Education on Teachers and Students at the “Las Americas” High School in Parla

    El presente trabajo tiene como finalidad profundizar sobre los efectos que tiene la formación en mediación, tanto en el profesorado como del alumnado que la recibe. El presente trabajo analiza cómo influye en alumnos/as de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria y Bachillerato y en el profesorado (todos ellos perteneciente al Instituto de Educación Secundaria “Las Américas” de Parla, Madrid), la formación que han recibido sobre mediación de conflictos, comparándolos con grupos control que no han recibido dicha formación en mediación. Los resultados mostraron que la formación en mediación puede tener un impacto en el razonamiento socio-moral, al facilitar el desarrollo de aspectos como la empatía o la adopción de nuevas perspectivas, en el alumnado; así como mejorar la percepción e identificación de los conflictos por parte de ambos grupos (profesorado y alumnado).

  • School Mediation Case. The Education of School Mediators: An Ever Expanding Project

    The intervention described here refers to an Education Project for School Mediators carried out in the Municipality of Guadarrama, Madrid in which Elementary Schools, the Municipal Psyco-pedagogical Department and the Municipality Youth Service Department take part. This Project has contributed to change the view of the school population about the cohabitation, peace culture and growth that stem from conflicts.

What is Revista de Mediación

It is an academic, biannual, online, and free of charge journal on Mediation and other ADR, of high editorial quality, highlighted relevance and professional interest that encourages scientific study and rigor, best practices and innovation, analysis and positive resolution of conflict through alternative and peaceful ways (ADR). It is addressed to mediators, specialists in conflict analysis, management and resolution, and to those interested in these fields.

What articles are accepted

The “Revista de Mediación” management team considers the best authors and the most updated research projects that might be of interest for the entire mediation practitioners. Having quality papers is, ultimately, the main criterion to decide upon publication. In order to accurately respond to the professional principle this Journal aims at, we consider that it is appropriate to meet some requirements other publications, publication standards and writing books have in order to insure the relevance of the published topics.
